Halfway point!

by on July 23, 2012

Sunday (at 1:30 pm local time to be precise) was the midpoint of our trip. Renee and I can’t deny a feeling of “we made it this far, we can make it the rest of the way”… a lot of mental and physical effort is needed to achieve the fun parts…. dare I say it’s like a 63-day backpacking trip?

I promised an update today but we’re still limited to phones for our Internet access, so can’t do a big post or any photos.

No news to post anyway… we’ve just been doing lots of hanging out. Beach in the morning and pool in the afternoon. We spent one day at the water park, and one day walking around Marbella, the nearest big town.

It’s striking how similar Marbella is to Santa Barbara… Same geography, vegetation, white buildings with tile roofs and strolling quaint streets with expensive tourist-oriented shops. The street names are all in Spanish, too! However it’s 10 degrees warmer here and there’s a 10th-century Arab castle in the center of town.

Big day tomorrow.. day trip to Tangiers, Morocco. Our next apartment in Barcelona has WiFi (whew!) so I hope to be able to post on Thursday with the report.

Buenos noches a todo.
