A long day of sightseeing (Anna)

by on July 12, 2014

Yesterday, we saw the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Empire State Building, and Grand Central Station. On the Statue of Liberty, we were able to go to the crown! It was kind of underwhelming, because in pictures it looks huge, but the windows were not even a foot tall. At Ellis Island, we looked up my great great grandfather [David’s Mom’s grandfather], who came to America in 1905. By then, we were really tired, so we came home and rested for an hour. Then, we took the subway to Grand Central Station. At Grand Central Station, we ate dinner at their food court, and dessert at the Magnolia Bakery, which apparently is famous. Then, we walked to the Empire State Building. After waiting in line a long time, we got onto the viewing deck. Then, we saw all the buildings around it, and took some pictures. It was really pretty at night, and compared to pictures, night seemed much better. We would have written this yesterday, but by the time we came home it was 11:00, and we were really tired.

You guys pack a lot into each day…I’m exhausted just thinking about the traffic and the security lines!
