Caverns and President’s Houses (Anna)

by on July 26, 2014

Today, we saw a cavern and Monticello. The cavern was AMAZING! It was really big, and really really pretty. There were lights in all the cool stalagmites and stalactites, with the lights “hidden” which made it look really cool. Then, we ate at a really good little diner, and saw an endless trail of motorcycles pass together, about 600. There were three wheeled motorcycles, and a bunch of different brands. There was even one with a sidecar, which Alex and I thought was cool. Then, we went to Monticello. There was a really cool octagonal room. I learned that Jefferson was not really an inventor, he just took ideas from Europe. It was really cool and weird, because he had animal horns in the entryway. He had a HUGE library!! Overall, today was really fun. Bye bye!!

Anna, my guess about all the motorcycles is that Sturgis is coming up. The last time I took a road trip cross country we saw motorcycles everywhere and sooo many of them. We found out that this big motorcycle “festival” happens every summer. It doesn’t take place near where you are necessarily but people might be heading to it. Just a guess…

Monticello is one of my favorite places to visit ! I’m glad you like it too. It’s one of those historical spots you can feel what it was like to live there in the hey day of Monticello. I sure there a few ghost living at Moniticello.
