Today, we went to the Changing of the Guards and Greenwich. The Changing of the Guards was cool, and we got really good views. Unfortunately, some people were very pushy (this is the part where blogging becomes rather FUN). 2 girls wanted to stand up close, so Anna let them. Their parents thought their children were too far away, so instead of moving them back, they pushed right up to the front. A lot of people got in trouble for standing up on a ledge. Yet another person decided that they needed to set up a selfie stick, right next to my head. I ended up getting pinned in a corner, and Anna ended up approximately 10 feet from where she started.

There were many stories, not all of them I can put into one blog post. So the Changing of the Guards was cool (and long) so we headed to the Thames. From there, we got on a riverboat up to Greenwich.

At this point, it was 4:30PM. We barely made it to the Royal Observatory. We got our picture on the meridian, and then went to the museum.

The museum explained the history of clocks, and different kinds of clocks. My personal favorite was the 6-pips clock. This was a clock that, on the hour, would send a signal to the BBC, which would then be broadcasted on radio. The pattern (assuming x = short beep and @ = long, 1/2 second beep) would be ‘x x x x x @.’ I could not get an Internet connection for a long enough duration to find a YouTube video (thanks to the lovely Internet we are offered at this apartment), but you can try to find one. I do know that a similar signal is sent out with the BBC World News intro. Another cool thing is that inside one of the buildings, a laser system was set up to show the Prime Meridian.

In the evening we saw “Wicked” which was fun.

This is what we did today.

Hi Alex. Really nice report. Funny you wrote about the crowds pushing into you guys. I have a similar story from the Warriors parade. I got there at 6 am for a 10 am start and people got so unruly who showed up right before 10 am and also wanted front row viewing! Love th photos you included.
