Edinburgh Day (by Rachel)

by on July 3, 2015

The UK really needs to sort out its whole weather situation. I was told it rained here at least half the month of June and its been in the high 70s and 80s. Honestly, I got rain boots for this trip and it’s only rained once.
Anyway, Scotland is just as you would expect. People wearing kilts walking around and bagpipe players on the street. What else do you need? We walked up to Edinburgh Castle today and toured around the grounds. The view from the top is quite spectacular, you can see for miles on a clear day like today.

Unfortunately though, Holyrood Palace was closed today due to the fact that the Queen was in, so we were stuck outside the walls. I was confused as to why we weren’t invited in for tea, but I guess she didn’t know we’re in town. So instead we went on a Harry Potter waking tour to learn all about J.K. Rowling’s inspirations for names and places for the Harry Potter books. We also saw some of the places she sat and wrote the books and of course stopped in one for a snack once the tour was over.

Tomorrow we’re going to see the Britannia because the Queen isn’t using it, and learn more about Scotland!
